The Indonesian government is taking extra measures on improving athletes’ performance to ensure a spot in the Top 10 for the upcoming Asian Games in 2018.

Indonesia has expressed great ambition in wanting to place in the top 10 of the Asian Games in 2018. Monetary and non-monetary benefits are promised by the Indonesian government in an effort to boost athletes’ morale and help assist them to perform their best.
The Ministry of Youth and Sports Affairs has promised a “big bonus” in terms of prize money for athletes to motivate them to do their best. Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs, Iman Nahrawi, initially prepared a total of 400 million rupiah (USD 30.000) for athletes who will achieve gold medals. However, it is said that the amount will be doubled, as reported by bola.com Gatot S Dewa Broto, Secretary to the Minister of Youth and Sports Affairs, explained to bola.com that the amount may even reach an equivalent to a million dollars in rupiah.
Furthermore, Indonesian Minister of Youth and Sport, Imam Nahrawi, on Tuesday (14/11/2017) installed a new deputy for improvement of sport achievement named Mulyana to immediately implement sport science programs among the country's athletes who will compete in the 18th Asian Games next year, as reported by Xinhua news. Collaboration with local universities is expected to help maximize the effort in improving the athlete's’ performance.
Mulyana also stated in a Synergy for Action on Information and Communication Event at Palembang (23/11/2017) that, “Achievements are a must. As a host (Indonesia) has an advantage, the entire nation can fully support our athletes.” He added that the ministry and the government as a whole are doing their best to supplement the athletes, even to the smallest of details from providing “pocket money” and “vitamins” to ensure that athletes feel valued and supported, as reported by tribunnews.com.
